Health Behaviour in School-aged Children (HBSC) is a World Health Organization collaborative cross-national survey on adolescent health and well-being. The survey is conducted every fourth or fifth year. The number of participating countries has varied from about 35 to 45 in the period 2001 - 2018. In 2018, about 240,000 children participated in the survey.

Young people were asked on how many days (if any) they had smoked cigarettes. Response options were never, 1-2 days, 3-5 days, 6-9 days, 10-19 days, 20-29 days, and 30 days (or more). Findings presented here show the proportions who answered that they had smoked 1-2 days or more in their lifetime. No data were received from Greenland.
