Day-care includes care of all children at different ages, whether full-time or part-time during day-time hours (6 am to 6 pm) in all institutions where attendance is checked by a public authority. Iceland: Percent of age group is for children 0-5 years old.

Break in time series in 2017. Data before and after 2017 can therefore not be compared. Data from 2017 onwards include children in daycare in municipal and self-governing institutions converted to full time enrolled, from which no total can be calculated. Private day care is included for the 0-2 year olds.

Compulsory school starts at the age of 6. Only children in day-care included, not children in after school arrangements. Percent of age group is for children 0-5 years old.

Norway

Compulsory school starts at the age of 6. Only children in day-care included, not children in after school arrangements.

Sweden

From 1999, children in open kindergartens are not included in the total number of children in kindergartens.
