This is a vision indicator selected by the Nordic Council of Ministers. It relates to the target Life below water under the area A green Nordic region.

This indicator describes the stocks of cod, herring and blue whiting (Torsk (nordaustarktisk), Sild (norsk vårgytande) and Kolmule), in thousands of tonnes.
To calculate the size of fish stocks, each year class of the stock is followed. New information about the amount of fish in a given year class will affect the results for this year class backwards in time. All figures are updated with new figures each year in the published reports, which means that there may be deviations for individual stocks compared to figures that have been published previously. Since it is not applicable to derive an aggregate for the Nordic Region, Northeast Arctic and Barents Sea describes the general development.
