This is a vision indicator selected by the Nordic Council of Ministers. It relates to the target Gender equality under the area A socially sustainable Nordic region.

This indicator shows the proportion of women among those elected to national parliaments, in percent.

The national parliament is the national legislative assembly and the indicator refers to both chambers (lower house and an upper house, where relevant). The count of members of a parliament includes the president/speaker/leader of the parliament.

In the table, the Nordic Region is comprised of the following countries/areas: Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. Nordic region is weighted by the population figures in POPU02, hence if there is missingness in POPU02 the aggregate is not computed (typically in the beginning of the year when POPU02 is yet to be updated).
