Norway

From 2017: All hotels included.

Sweden

Guest nights: Number of nights spent in hotels, youth hostels and holiday villages. Establishments with at least 9 beds.

In 2024, many hotels changed booking systems, which led to the guest's residence, both for Swedish and foreign guests, not being registered correctly. This has resulted in the proportion of guest nights without residence information increasing from 1% in 2023 to 3% in 2024 for all facilities, and to 5% for hotels. It is important to be aware of this underlying change when interpreting the statistics. Assuming that the distribution of guest residence is assumed to be the same as in 2023, this would mean that the number of foreign guest nights would increase more than the figures in the statistics portal show. There would also be more Swedish guest nights, but the development for Swedish guest nights would still be negative when compared to 2023.
