reporting country

Denmark

Official data based on the same methodology on land use is only available for 2011, 2016 and 2018. Last observation carried forward is applied to fill in the years in-between. The land use is classified according to international UN guidelines (System of Environmental-Economic Accounting, SEEA) and is comparable to other countries' data compilations along the same guidelines.

Arable land and gardens does not include pastures and other extensive agricultural production areas.

Permanent meadows and pastures include pastures and other extensive agricultural production areas and meadows (including bogs).

Other land area include roads, railways, airports, citites, towns, other artifically covered areas and areas which have not been mapped.

Finland

Includes Åland.

Arable land figures are for active farms in 1996-2009. Permanent meadows and pastures in active farms in use in 1996-2009. Forests include scrubland. For Finland, 'Other land area' is calculated as: (Total area)-(Arable land and gardens)-(Forests)-(Water area).

Norway

Forest refers to areas as reported to OECD/Eurostat. Includes wooded area above and north of limits of productive forests.
Total area recalculated in 2007.
Icecap area calculated around 1992. Water area recalculated in 2007.

Sweden

Forests: Refer to sliding mean values of five-year periods. The middle year is shown, i.e. 2017-2021=2019.
Other land area and Icecap area: Uncertain figures, cannot be provided by SCB from 2015.
